Mother Mary’s Tales from the Temple

“We sat in the long grass on a summers evening watching the Sun descend behind the hills.   After the walk in the dustiness of the day we longed just to rest.   I found myself sitting with those I loved and my heart burst open like a ripened fruit warmed by the sun.    I stopped all thoughts of tomorrow and yesterday.   Nothing came to my mind.   I had taught myself not to let the mind wander where it might.   Like a small child given freedom for the first time, finding its steps on a shaky path,  I would fall at times and be saddened by my lack of progress on the path.    But after some time I found I could wander for longer without the need to stop or fall.

On this evening that was the herald of a new dawn, the sun set with a blaze of ruby and red that made us all stare in wonder.    How great God is I thought.   How gentle and kind He is that made the world so rich in all the colours for us to witness.    As I stood and walked towards the sunset I found myself like a child once more.   Free of responsibility and thoughts of lack, I hummed a tune that came to mind and allowed my arms to swing as I walked with ease.    At one point I twirled and laughed and laughed for no apparent reason!!    I looked around me as I felt a gentle hand on my arm but despite turning quickly to see who it was there was no one there.    I looked down to see if a small creature had brushed by but no I was walking on my own.     I looked behind and the others were some distance off.    I could hear their laughter and thought how wonderful it is that they are like children in the setting sun too.     As my gaze shifted to accommodate the light before me a small golden haired child filled the image of the Sun.   She danced and waved and ran as if toward me.    My heart stood still in that moment and everything I had ever thought of as impossible became possible.    I stood transfixed in that spot on the ancient ground of beloved Earth, and opened my arms in surrender!!    The child’s laughter filled my heart just as the image of the Sun on the horizon.    The beauty of that moment stayed with me forever.

The stillness within was all around.    The child’s image filled the sky before me and I knew, I just knew because it was known in my own heart.   This was Mother, this was the Child.   She is one and the same.  I sank to my knees and cried tears of Joy!!    The child before me smiled and in that smile I saw the ancient, the cosmic, the heavenly and Earthly.   There was nothing missing.   Nothing at all.   ‘
